The Current State of Affairs

The United States of America has arrived at an impasse.

As capitalism continues to be the lifeblood of this country, her citizens continue to feel the late-stage effects of it. The insatiable greed that oligarchs display through their manipulation of universal human rights through the monetization of healthcare, food, and water has only grown as the prices of these rights increase as well. The difficulty to simply survive in the 21st century is felt in every generation whether that be older folk who can’t afford to see their doctor or young adults who can’t afford housing even after obtaining a higher education like they were told to do.

The working class people of America are tired.

In the wealthiest nation on Earth, the average citizen feels abandoned. Rhetoric pushed by both Democrats and Republicans focuses on protecting multi-billion dollar CEOs and executives from regulation laws. Instead of acknowledging the ever growing class divide, our immigrants are blamed. Our LGBT+ youth are blamed. Our people of color, teachers and activists are blamed. It is time for the scapegoating tactics to end, and time to hold the 1% accountable.

America needs a place for working matters.

Through boots-on-the-ground, working class centered, investigative journalism, Working Matters commits itself to the betterment of the American people by providing refuge for progressive ideas to be shared to our hub of community resources.
